Optimized Connections: Hybrid Mutation Between Objects

This project explores the idea of creating cross-connections by blending between two scanned objects while taking into consideration their initial geometry. The selected items can be either related in terms of use or not, but they can be forgotten, reused objects that are viewed from a new perspective after connecting them. This method can open up possibilities of re-usability, as well as new concepts for these objects. Use of these connections can also help reduce negative impacts such as mass customization and reduction in re-use and retrofit of existing products. 

Our process includes use of high precision 3d scanners called Creaform Go!SCAN 3D to detect and store geometry information and then using an automated method prominent 3d edges and feature lines will be detected, which will be then used in order to create the blending geometries that will be the micro component of the parametric joint.
